Mallikharjun well-known as Malli a filmmaker who is passionate about films has started his career as an assistant director and turned as director with “Abhimanyu”. Where his first film didn’t work well at the box office and after that he did a couple of films with went with average talk. Now, he is trying to prove his talent once again with his upcoming film “Kalyanram Kathi” which is going to hit the theatres on tomorrow, here is an exclusive chit chat with Malli by myfirstshow team.

Myfirstshow : What is your back ground?

Director Malli : I was born and brought in Vasanthavada Village near Hanuman junction and I completed my graduation. I am from Political family, my grand father was apolitical leader and my father is a business man. Basically from my childhood I am crazy about films, due to my own interest I started my career in film industry. I worked as assistant for many directors, later on I entered as a director with Kalyanram ‘s “Abhimanyu” which was presented by C Aswini Dutt under ‘Sri Rock Line Movies’, after that did “Bhadradri” with Srihari and now, I am coming up  again Kalyanram’s “Kalyanram Kathi”. And this is my third film.

Myfirstshow : Could tell us about “Kalyanram Kathi”?

Director Malli : “Kalyanram Kathi” story is totally based on the life of a young and energetic boy (Kathi lantti  Kurrodu Kadha), It shows how happily living boy will face the hurdles, what hurdles he faced, how he overcome them, what are the reasons to took a weapon (to hold kathi) for war, etc will be shown in this film. I think it must be better to watch on a big screen.

Myfirstshow : How “Kalyanram Kathi” happened?

Director Malli : I have a good rapport with Kalyanram, we both maintained good relation from “Abhimanyu”, we used to meet regularly and technically relation has become friendly relation. When we meet we used think to do a good film and one day I told about this story and after listening he accepted to do and “Kalyanram Kathi” happened.

Myfirstshow : Is the script prepared based on Hero or you selected hero based on script?

Director Malli : Actually, this script belongs to Vamsy’s, he narrated the story to me after listening to it I felt that Kalyanram is apt for the character, then I approached him and he also accepted immediately after listening to the script. So, hero was selected based on Script and it was not prepared based on hero.

Myfirstshow : Why you took a long gap between your movies?

Director Malli :  To be frank “Abhimanyu” is a flop and if any director’s first film was flop then no one prefers to give chance for other movie in this commercial industry. Its common and every one know about it, after a flop I waited long time for good script at that time I did “Bhadradri” and it went well with an average talk. With “Bhadradri” I improved my directional skills and now, with all my experiences I worked on this script for nearly 2years and I feel very proud to be a part of this film. I am very confident on the script that it will definitely rock.

Myfirstshow : As you told “Abhimanyu” was a flop which you did with Kalyanram, then why you choose again Kalyanram as hero for this film?

Director Malli : Actually, at that time of “Abhimanyu” we both Kalyanram and I are new to the industry and “Abhimanyu” was the second film for Kalyanram and first film for me. So, we both didn’t have that much of knowledge and we didn’t concentrate on some departments. Later on he only asked me that we must do a successful movie and I also interested to do with him because I like his acting. After listening to the script of Kathi, I felt he is apt. so I started with him.

Myfirstshow : Why you are doing this film on NTR Arts banner?

Director Malli : I only forced Kalyanram to do this film in his own banner because I am a big fan of NTR,I want to do the film in NTR Arts and not only that considering the productions values I asked him to do in his own production house.  

Actually, after listening to the story Kalyanram said some big producer accepted to this film under big banner, but I asked him to do on NTR Arts because present days there are less number of production houses who prefers quality and one of that production houses is NTR Arts. I proudly say that NTR Arts is the only production house which didn’t consider about the market of the hero, it considers only the budget for the script and they will not hesitate to extent that budget if needs. They prefers for release the best quality movie so, I compiled him to do in this banner.

Myfirstshow : This film had faced the title controversy. Could you tell us about that?

Director Malli : Yes, it has faced a title controversy before, but, I feel that the director who blogged a complaint regarding “Kathi” title has no need to react that much for this title because before his registration of “Kathi” title, there are many titles were registered in film chamber based on “Kathi” like “Kathilanti Kurrodu”, “Kathiramdas”, “Kathi Kantha rao” and finally we registered as “Kalyanram Kathi”. So, we followed the rules of Film Chamber and that’s reasons we are not interested to talk about this issue.     

Myfirstshow : What are your future plans?

Director Malli : Currently, I am busy with the promotional activities of “Kalyanram Kathi”, as you all known that the offers will get depends on the success rate only. Due, to the positive talk of “Kalyanram Kathi” by watching the trailers, audio and censor talk, I got some offers but they are in the discussion stage and not finalized yet.  After finalizing let you know the things.
