Rating:    4/5

Director: Bapu

Producer: Yelamanchili Saibabu

The names of Bapu, Ramana, Balakrishna, Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Ilayaraja are sufficient to arouse interest in a film. The talented team has come up with the mythological film Sri Rama Rajyam.

Story:
The director has done a good job by starting the film with the arrival of Rama and Sita to Aydodhya after vanquishing Ravan in Lanka.  Rama is now the king of Ayodhya. Under his rile the people are happy and prosperous. Just when everything seems to be going fine a comment by a washer man makes Rama to send Sita away into the forest.

Form here the real story of Sri Rama Rajaym being. Sita is given shelter by sage Valmiki. He keeps her identity a secret and looks after her as his own daughter. Sita gives birth to Lava and Kusa. Valmiki imparts knowledge to them and also teaches them how to use weapons (artha Sastra). Lava and Kusa also study Ramayana and Valmiki asks them to preach the story across the length and breadth of Ayodhya.

Rama conducts Aswamedha Yagam for the welfare f the people. Lava and Kusa catch the horse and tie it to a tree. Rama himself is forced to come to the ashram and he is finally united with his two sons with Sita asking her mother Bhoo Devi to take her back.

Performance:

Balakrishna as lord rama is simply superb. He carries the role with the necessary poise, dignity and intensity. Nayanatara as Sita is the perfect choice. She conveys emotions through her eyes beautifully. She is an asset to the film. ANR as sage Valmiki is the right choice and he does good job. Srikanth as Lakshman is okay.

KR Vijaya, Murali Mohan, Roja, Brahmanandam and others appear in brief roles and do their job as per the requirements of the script. The two children who play the role of Lava and Kusa are cute and suit their roles perfectly.

Positive:
Good sets and costumes
Good direction
Screenplay
Music
Graphics
Narration
Cinematography

Negative:
There are not many negatives in the film. There are a few minor blemishes but they can be overlooked. The film has a run length of nearly three hours but still it does not bore you at any point of time.

Analysis:
Sri Rama Rajyam is a feel good film that showcases out ancient culture, heritage and values. The way Bapu managed to make the film into a visual and musical delight is extraordinary. Sri Rama Rajyam has come at a right time and it is hoped that many such films will follow.
