Saturday evening Hyderabad was witnessed the glittering ceremony at which prestigious ANR National Awards for the years 2012 was given in the presence of Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tiwari. CM Kirankumar Reddy who was the chief guest of the evening presented the award to noted film maker Shyam Benegal. Manish Tiwari presented a cash award of Rs 5 lakhs to him. CM Kiran speaking on the occasion recollected that he was the proud product of Nizam College from which Shyam Benegal graduated. He said India’s great actor ANR is honouring top class creative director. He said Shyam Benegal through his films tried to eradicate evils in the society.Shyam Benegal said he was happy that he was receiving the award in his own taste. He said when he planned to venture into films many laughed as only few Hyderabadis like Chandrasekhar and Paidi Jairaj were present. He expressed happiness on receiving ANR award as ANR worked hard to shift Telugu Industry from Madras to Hyderabad, Union Minister lavished praises on the achievements of Shyam Benegal. Nagarjuna said CM Kiran was his junior in school and expressed happiness that he graced the function. Dr.D.Ramanaidu was felicitated at the function. T.Subbarami Reddy, K.Viswanath, Akkineni Venkat, Amala, Sumanth, Nagachaitanya, Susanth graced the function.
