App to curb Piracy

Recently we have reported in our article about a memorandum of understanding (MoU) being signed by the Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce (APFCC) and Motion Pictures Distributors Association of America (MPDAA). Now there a recent development for the Tollywood, they have come with a smart phone app, which is free to download and this application educates and gives information’s about content piracy and online as well Pirated CD’s and so on. This app is so handy that, when people come across somebody who sells these pirated versions across video libraries or any other places they can report to Anti-Video Piracy Cell (AVPC) in real time through their mobile phones these efforts will be recognized and rewarded by the Industry. As such the Tollywood industry is losing heavily due to online piracy, in the year 2008 it was estimated to be Rs.140 Cores, in 2009 it was estimated to be Rs.226 Cr and in the year 2010 it was a whopping Rs338 Cr. its seems to be no end to curb these piracy though the cyber piracy team is monitoring the internet 24 hrs, tracking websites that host illegal IP addresses of people who are downloading/uploading materials from such sites. The MoU which was signed by these two offices will also curb the piracy of Telugu films in US and elsewhere in the world. Mr. Raj Kumar the Chairman, governing council (AVPC) says that there are many such plans but this is just the beginning of such initiatives. So if you are downloading movies or music illegally a word of caution from us, you better keep a watch you will be caught in no time.
