Bhagya Nagara Veedhullo Gammattu Review

Movie: Bhagyanagara Veedhullo Gammattu

Rating: 1.5/5

Producer-Director: Srinivasa Reddy

Behind Screens:

After proving his mettle as a comedian, actor Srinivas Reddy has ventured into direction with his upcoming comedy film, Bhagyanagara Veedhullo Gammattu. He is also producing the film on the banner of M/S Flying Colors Entertainment. Check out the review to know if the film tickles your funny bones or bores you to sleep.

Story:

Three good-for-nothing friends Srinivas Reddy, Shakalaka Shankar and Sathya(named 2,3,4) are desperate to make a mark as actors, at least by acting in short films. Raghu Babu, a short filmmaker, asks them to arrange a heroine for their film and only then he will cast them in his film. On the other side, a female journalist played by Dollysha records a video to expose drug mafia and the gang members are chasing her. In a sudden turn of events, she loses her memory and meets Srinivasa Reddy and his friends. Vennela Kishore plays a cop who is hell-bent on destroying the drug mafia gang. What follows is a series of misunderstandings and gags in the name of comedy before the end titles roll.

Performances:

Srinivasa Reddy, as usual, is good. There’s not much scope for histrionics in his role except for the Kamal Haasan spoof of Vasanta Kokila but he has done a decent job. Sathya and Shakalaka Shankar steal the show, especially in the second half. Shakalaka Shankar is hilarious in the spoof of ‘Bathuku JatakaBandi’ show and Sathya makes the audience laugh out loud in the Rasagulla episode during the pre-climax. Actress Dollysha is forgettable. Vennela Kishore is just about okay as the poker-faced police officer. Though there are a plethora of comedians in the movie, like Sathyam Rajesh, Getup Srinu, Hyper Aadi, Chitram Seenu, Viva Harsha, Mahesh Vitta none of them could make much of an impact because the screenplay is a complete mess.

Technical:

Srinivas Reddy still has a long way to go before he becomes a good director. His choice of the subject though isn’t bad he has no grip on the screenplay. His narration is very weak. The dialogues by Param Suryanshu are good at places. The technical values are not as great as it is a very limited budget film. The camerawork, editing, and music are all very basic.

Analysis:

Bhagyanagara Veedhullo Gammattu suffers from poor and uneven screenplay & direction. The first half is a complete bore. The second half is slightly better. There are many satires on Pawan Kalyan, Actor Sivaji, Roja, Chandrababu Naidu, Kaththi Mahesh, and others but none of them work. The ‘Bathuku Jatakabandi’ and Rasagulla episodes provide some relief in this wannabe comedy entertainer. Or else, there is nothing much to talk about Srinivas Reddy’s directorial debut. There is absolutely no buzz for the movie and those who will come to the theaters looking for some rib-tickling comedy will be sorely disappointed. Overall Bhagyanagara Veedhullo Gammattu is a poor fare and has very little chance to work at the box office.
