Bhanumathi and Ramakrishna Movie Review

Movie: Bhanumathi and Ramakrishna

Rating: 3/5

Director: Srikanth Nagothi

Behind the Scenes:

Coronavirus Outbreak has changed the entire dynamics of Cinema. With no sight of theaters re-opening any sooner, Several films are skipping their theatrical release and are releasing online directly. Naveen Chandra’s Bhanumathi & Ramakrishna is one such film that is out on Aha. Let us see how the movie releasing today will connect to the audience.

Story:

Bhanumathi & Ramakrishna is the story of two completely contrasting individuals – the very independent Bhanumathi (Salony Luthra) and an innocent Ramakrishna (Naveen Chandra). They are into their 30s and are wondering if they would find a suitable match. They are forced to work together and the rest is how things pan out for them.

Performances:

Naveen Chandra got into the skin of the character of an innocent boy who comes to Hyderabad from a small town. He carried that innocence that is needed into his body language as well. Salony Luthra looks slightly older but that is what is expected for a character of a woman in her 30s. She performed really well as a strict and sometimes arrogant girl. Viva Harsha is superb whenever he appears. Particularly, the Kushi scene is too good. The rest of the characters do not have much relevance but are good at whatever they are given.

Technical Performances:

Debutant Srikanth did a superb job in his first outing. The movie has got a wafer-thin story and the movie runs on two exactly opposite types of characters. His major success is how well he penned both the characters. He kept it simple straight from the start to end with good conversations and light-hearted comedy. Shravan Bharadwaj’s music and Achu Rajamani’s background score complements the proceedings of the Rom-Com. The camera work is good and the editing is tight. Production Values are appropriate.

Analysis:

Bhanumathi & Ramakrishna is a feel-good Rom-Com straight from the start to the end. The major strength of the film is the characters of the lead pair, the realistic conversations between them, and the subtle comedy. Bhanumathi is imposing and at the same time, Rama Krishna’s character does not lose its charm even though he gets subdued at times. On the flip side, there should have been more scenes showcasing why Ramakrishna falls for Bhanumathi. Some may have a difference of opinion about the climax being too simple but the director wants to keep it uncomplicated. The idea of just 93 minutes Runtime is a major plus for the film. Finally, Bhanumathi & Ramakrishna is a well-executed Rom-Com.
