Movie : Bheeshma

Rating : 3/5

Director : Venky Kudumula

Behind the Scenes:

Young Hero Nithin did not have a hit after A..Aa in 2016. After a series of flops, he teamed up with Chalo fame Venky Kudumula for a Rom-Com. The movie also happens to be the last film in Nithin’s Bachelorhood. Let us see how the movie releasing today will connect to the audience.

Bheeshma (Nithin) is Degree Dropout who is desperate to date some girl or other. He finds himself hooked to a girl, Chaitra (Rashmika) who is the daughter of an ACP. Later, he finds himself becoming an interim CEO of Bheeshma Organics and will be given 30 days to prove himself. What happens next in his professional and love journey forms the rest.

Nithin gets a tailor-made role without any challenges and he sleepwalks through it effortlessly. He has improved a lot in Romantic and comic scenes as well. After a loud character in Sarileru Neekevvaru, Rashmika gets a neat and simple role. She performed really well. Vennela Kishore is one of the major highlights in the comedy department. Hebah Patel and Avantika Mishra appeared in little roles. Raghu Babu and Brahmaji were good at whatever they are given. Sampath does what he is known for. Jishu Sengupta is here to stay as a Stylish Villain.

Technical Performances:

Director Venky Kudumula chose a wafer-thin story but he made it fresh with his writing. There is an ample dose of comedy stuffed throughout the film which masks the inadequacies. The message is also neatly packed and delivered. The movie gets predicable towards the end but that is not threatening. A few songs by Mahati Swara Sagar are really good and some can be better. They are shot well as well. The camera work is superb and the editing is good. The Production Values are excellent.

As said earlier the movie has got a wafer-thin story but then, the director showed his brilliance in making sure that the movie is not boring from start to end. Nithin and Rashmika’s romance and Nithin-Vennela Kishore comedy track bind the movie together. Sampath played his part in moving the narrative forward in the first half and better characterization for Jisshu Sengupta would have been better in the second half. A better story and climax would have done wonders but they will not stop Bheeshma from being a breezy watch.
