Superstar Mahesh Babu is the uncrowned king of Overseas Boxoffice. But since the last few years due to bad or average content, his movies are finding it difficult to break even for the buyers. And that is the reason why the overseas distributors are not showing interest to grab his latest movie, Maharshi. The producers are quoting high prices for the rights and in the past, not many Mahesh films resulted in profits for the buyers. Except for Srimanthudu, all the other movies in recent past have flopped big time at the box office in the USA.
Dil Raju is quoting 18 crores for the Overseas rights of Maharshi which no distributor is willing to pay. Sources claim that three distributors have come forward and offered to buy Maharshi for 12-13 crores. Two of those overseas distributors who are experienced and can handle a huge release like Maharshi, 12 crores is their final offer. The other one is still new in this field and even though he is ready to buy it for 13 crores, Dil Raju is skeptical that he won’t be able to give Maharshi a good release which will affect its collections.
If the producers are still adamant of not decreasing the price of the rights, it will be a big problem for them to release on their own.
Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, the film is a joint production of PVP, Dil Raju and Ashwini Dutt.
