Movie: Falaknuma Das

Rating: 2.0/5.0

Director: Vishwak Sen

Falaknuma Das starring Vishwak Sen is one small film which has garnered so much of attention with its impressive Trailer. Vishwak Sen who is trying his luck for a long time is starring as well as Directing this film. Let us see how Falaknuma Das is received by the audience:

Storyline:

Das (Vishwak Sen) is inspired by the gangs of Falaknuma and maintains a gang himself since his childhood. The fascination for gangs, heroism, settlements, and bloodshed grows with him. When Das tries to establish himself in the meat business of the area, the local syndicate do not like that. An unexpected event which occurs in the tussle with them changes the direction of Das. Suddenly, he wants to establish a monopoly of the business. Rest is all about what happens in his life and love

Star Shine:

Falaknuma Das is more about the attitude of the hero. Vishwak Sen did that very well and this undoubtedly his career-best performance. The heroines are terrible, to say the least. The guy who played Ravi as the baddie is excellent. Tarun Bhascker as a cop is superb. Uttej gets a meaty role and he does that very well. Rest is okay.

Technical:

Vishwak Sen picked up a successful film like Angamaly Diaries but could not adapt it to Telugu nativity. Even though the premise of Falaknuma is good, he barely managed to live up to the expectations. The writing has been good for the most part. The songs by Vivek Sagar are disappointing but the background score is too good. Vidya Sagar’s Cinematography is good in some parts and shaky at most places. Editing by Ravi Teja Girijala is patchy. Production Values are okay.

Analysis:

The first half of Falaknuma Das has few good parts here and there but the director stretched it beyond a certain limit. The director takes ages to get into the story and introduce the characters. The romantic drama which comes in between is boring. Many scenes look purposeless in the context of the story. Things get even disappointing in the second half. As the hero sets out for revenge, we expect the whole track to be gripping but it is anything but that. The pace also dips considerably. The climax is even disappointing as it gives an abrupt ending feel. Finally, Falaknuma Das fails to live up to the hype it has created.
