Sizzling beauty Sai Pallavi who steeled the hearts of Malayalam movie lovers with ‘Premam’ has repeated the same for Telugu audience with ‘Fidaa’. She is one among the heroines who acquired huge crazy with her debut films in Mollywood & Tollywood too. But, she is facing a tough time to make her mark in Kollywood.
Her Tamil debut film which was launched long ago has faced the legal issue with the title. It is known that Sai Pallavi Tamil debut film ‘Karu’ completed all formalities long ago and all set for grand release soon. The film has faced legal issue with the title. The readers are aware that producer J. Manimaran of J.S. Screens from MG Nagar filed a petition in Madras High Court that ‘Karu’ title was registered under JS Screens in 2011 and title belongs to him. And Lyca Productions have used it without their knowledge.
This legal suit hearing was held on February 19th, a single judge gave verdict favor to J. Manimaran stating that ‘Karu’ title belongs to J S Screens. The Lyca Production House owned by its producer Subash Karan of T Nagar filed a counter-petition stating that they already released the promotional material into the market with this title if a sudden change in title will throw them into huge losses.
Today, Madras High court First Bench of Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Abdul Quddhose made the shocking ruling. “If the production of a film is not commenced within one year from the date of its title registration and even after a grace period of six months, the person who made the registration cannot claim any right over the title”.
As per the rules, if production work does not commence during the year of registration, then renewal for another six months only was to be considered by the executive committee of the Film Producer Council on furnishing satisfactory reasons.
This rule favored the Lyca Production because J S Screens who registered the title in 2011 has started their film in 2013. But Lyca started their film with Sai Pallavi and Naga Shourya in lead below one year after title registration. So, finally this judgment favored Lyca and all objections are cleared for Sai Pallavi & Naga Shourya starrer ‘Karu’ release. Makers arranged grand audio release event in Chennai on Today. The film will have simultaneous release Telugu as ‘Kanam’. Watch this space for more updates.
