After the success of Akshay Kumar’s Pad Man and Amitabh Bachchan – Rishi Kapoor’s 102 Not Out, Popular Bollywood Production House, Sony Pictures India has acquired the rights for a Biopic on legendary woman ODI cricketer Jhulan Goswami. Sony will develop and produce Jhulan Biopic in partnership with Dunamis Entertainment. The official announcement of the project happened earlier today and the makers are yet to finalize the heroine who will play the titular role.
The film will explore the inner and outer world of Goswami. It is the story of a little girl from Nadia in West Bengal who went on to become the highest wicket-taker in international women’s cricket. The makers say it is an inspiring story of the all-rounder and former skipper of the national team and the film will highlight various spheres of her life – riddled with extreme hardships and massive achievements. The makers have not even revealed the director’s name of this project. But then, we are told that the Pre-Production works are happening silently and the rest of the details will be announced very soon. This is the Second Cricket Biopic in the recent times after Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s and it is the first Biopic of an Indian Women Cricketer.
