No Genius ness seen by Anchor Omkar

Behind the screens

Anchor Omkar’s debut venture as director ‘Genius’ hit the screens today. The film starred young pair Havish, Sanusha in lead with a special role by Sarath Kumar. Let us see what impact Omkar created with ‘Genius’ and find out whether there is any truth in the controversy generated in the film.

Story Line

ACP Sarath Chandra (Sarath Kumar) is entrusted by Home Minster JP (Jaya Prakash Reddy) to solve the mystery behind the kidnap of a top film star Peda Babu and popular cricket player Nijamuddin and also solve the deaths of two youths Jiva and Yasir.

What connection Jiva and Yasir has with the kidnaps and how it is related to Nivas (Havish) who is the son of a priest (Suman) and aspires to be the leader in the model of Nanaji (Pradeep Rawat) should be found on the silver screen.

Star Shine

Havish came up with commendable performance though he did not get chance to show his romantic angle and even delivery of the dialogues in the first half of the film. He silently performed his job. Sanusha did not get any chance to perform though she looked beautiful in traditional attire. Vinodh and Ashwin Babu impressed all as Havish’s friends. Brahmanandam made a strong impact in the film with his hilarious scenes. Ashish Vidyarthi, Pradeep Rawat and JP did their roles while Sarath Kumar came out with powerful performance in special role.Suman, Kota Srinivas Rao, Viswanath and others performed their roles accordingly.

Anchor Omkar on his debut came out with powerful script with strong message to students. He did well till the first half maintaining the suspense part well to the point. Brahmanadam’s comedy though not in sync with the story created a strong impact on movie lovers. However he lost the plot completely with too much seriousness in the second half. Parachuri Brothers dialogues made strong impact. Student and fan power is not shown in a correct manner and climax is the big draw back with too much violence for the last ten minutes of the film. Film’s second half could have been fine tuned. Lot of item songs put speed breaks on the tempo of the film. Omkar even missed the romantic angle between the lead pair.

Production Values of Ramadootha Creations are good. Joshua Sridhar’s music is OK and background score complimented with the storyline. MR.Varma’s editing is good while Diwakaran Raghunathan’s cinematography is good.

Movie Marks

Genius sent strong message to diehard fans on hero worship and it has to be seen how it will be received by masses. Overall it is a poor execution.
