Actress Ileana has officially signed up for director Shankar’s next film, the remake of the Bollywood blockbuster “3 Idiots”. Though talks with the actress have been going on for quite a while now, the buzz is that the actress officially came on board the team only recently.
Ileana will reprise the role made memorable by ‘Kareena Kapoor’ in the Hindi original, and will star in both the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film. Ilayalathapathy Vijay will play the lead role in Tamil, while Mahesh Babu will do so in Telugu.
Many top heroes in K-town have been trying to rope in the actress for their films but with little luck. The actress had signed up for ‘Vikram’s 24’, but the project was eventually dropped.
Although the heroine has now been finalised, talks are still on to finalise the rest of the ‘Idiots’. With Madhavan, who was a part of the Hindi original, announcing that he will not be reprising his role, it has been reported that the filmmakers have approached Siddharth, who made his debut with Shankar’s Boys, and Jiiva for the other two roles.
The cinematographer of the film, Manoj Paramahamsa, had in an earlier interview, said, "The film is being planned as a summer release and the shoot will most probably begin by early November".
The success of “Robot/Endhiran” across the nation has raised Shankar’s market value and so this film, which is the filmmaker’s first remake, has garnered a lot of attention.
