The distribution market of Phars films is creating waves all over the trade by acquiring the overseas rights of all major films starting from Saaho, Sye Raa to Darbar and RRR. Recently Phars film also offered 8 cr single payment for one of the Pongal 2020 release film. Phars films head, Gulshan is leaving no stone unturned in becoming the market leader as far as overseas rights of South Indian Films are concerned. There are many doubts and rumors floating around on Phars films in the distribution market.
Apparently there are two rumors going on in the Tollywood circles. One is that they are trying to convert all their black money into white. Big movies mean big bets and they can show losses in the end and they can escape paying the taxes levied upon them. Another rumor floating around is that is they want to hold complete control over the Dubai Market without anyone else penetrating in their territory. Malayalam films have great demand in Dubai followed by Hindi films and then Telugu Films. Phars films acquire the overseas rights of biggies and then sell the rights to various distributors except Dubai. Even poor word-of-mouth films break-even in Dubai. The latest example is Saaho, which has made approximately 20 crores and Phars films have achieved breakeven in this territory. Previously the real numbers never came out but now the business is becoming transparent and the real collections are becoming public which is also creating some panic for Phars films.
Whatever may be the reason, Phars films have captured the market in spite of many new companies trying to make an entry. The real truth of Phars films might come out in few months.
