Inauguration of the 48th edition of International Film Festival of India has been begun at Goa’s capital Panaji. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has inaugurated the festival at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Bambolim near Panaji, Goa, the capital of the western Indian state of India. Audiences were also left mesmerized by the Utsav act that illustrated the diversity of Indian culture. The galaxy of stars on stage says it all a grand beginning to a grand show.
The Festival opened with acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s film, “Beyond The Clouds”. Amitabh Bachchan will be graced with the Indian film personality of the year. The Lifetime Achievement award will be presented to the celebrated Canadian director, Atom Egoyan.
The International Competition section of IFFI 2017 carries a cumulative cash prize of over Rs. One crore and will showcase 15 of the finest films of this year.The festival will be presenting 195 films from over 82 countries. Over the next 8 days, nearly 200 films from 82 countries will be screened across 3 venues.
Homage to cinematic master spy James Bond also will be held in The IFFI this year in a special section where nine films featuring the various leading actors who have essayed the iconic character, will be screened.
