A joint action committee of South Indian Film Industries sat with the representatives of the Digital Content Providers to resolve the contentious issues but the meetings ended up inconclusive. The JAC has confirmed that the shutdown will happen from March 2nd. As a result, the JAC has given a Newspaper Ad today asking the Theater owner not to renew the agreements of the old movies and enter into new agreements with the Digital Content Providers from March 2nd. The JAC also confirmed that the Digital Content Providers will not be provided with the necessary content from the same day.
If this shutdown goes on for a long time, it will impact the plans of stars who have pinned high hopes on Summer holidays to make it big at the box office. The Summer Race will begin with Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam releasing on March 30th. Stylish Star Allu Arjun’s Naa Peru Surya – Naa Illu India on May 4th, Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Bharat Ane Nenu on April 20th, and South Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kaala on April 27th will also be impacted. It has to be seen if both the sides enter into consensus and ensure that the shutdown is called off.
