Director: VV Vinayak
Behind the Screens:
Sai Dharam Tej had delivered back to back disasters after a great start. His recent release, Jawaan had resulted in about 50% losses. He has pinned all his hopes on this project Intelligent to make a comeback to winning ways. Let us see how the movie has fared with the audience.
Teja (Sai Dharam Tej) is a Software Engineer in a reputed MNC Company. But then, the company owner, Nanda Kishore (Nassar) commits suicide all of sudden, one fine day. Teja is on a mission to nab the real culprit behind and later transforms himself to Dharma Bhai. Rest of the movie is all about why he turns into Dharma Bhai and what he does later.
Sai Dharam Tej has got a role of software engineer which fits him well but the role of Dharma Bhai is not exactly something he could pull off. His styling is neat but there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to acting. The famous remix is almost like he is imitating Chiranjeevi. He does some good fights as Dharma Bhai. Lavanya Tripathi has got a role without much substance and she even struggled to dance in the songs. She resorted to a lot of glamour show in this film. There is a huge ensemble of comedy actors except for Sapthagiri and to some extent, Prudhvi, rest is waste. Brahmi is a huge disappointment.
VV Vinayak has disappointed a big time in this film. Everything about the film right from the story has that outdated feel and the screenplay only worsen the things. There is no emotional connect whatsoever and it is stretched beyond the patience of the audience at many places. There are some serious concerns for Vinayak with this film. Akula Siva, the writer have a serious need of retrospection. Thaman’s music is okay but the songs are disappointing. Cinematography by SV Vishweshwar is okay while the editing is patchy. The production values are also disappointing.
There is some decent comedy in the first half through Posani and Jayaprakash Reddy and the interval bang is decent even though it is on expected lines. The Dharma Bhai Episode is outright silly with a bad premise. There is no logic in mafia taking over a software company. There are too many characters in the second half which just come and go. We can know every bit of the story right from the start and the climax is also disappointing. Brahmi as Dharma Bhai is a bit okay. As a whole, Intelligent becomes the weakest work of Vinayak.
