International Women’s Day celebrated across the World

Women all over the world are celebrating International Women’s Day today, March 8th. The day showcases the growing power of Women in all fronts. Women made stupendous progress and even entered many areas which were treated as male territory. Women started flying warplanes, went in the forefront of combat forces and even conquered space.

The first national Women’s Day was observed on 28 February 1909 in the United States following a declaration by the Socialist Party of America.[2] In August 1910, an International Women’s Conference was organized to precede the general meeting of the Socialist Second International in Copenhagen. Inspired by the success world started celebrating Women’s Day as a tribute to Women Power who in general were considered the fairer sex and tender.

In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women’s economic, political and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries, primarily Eastern Europe, Russia, and the former Soviet bloc. In many regions, the day lost its political flavour, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother’s Day and St Valentine’s Day.

Inspite of growing recognition across the world about what women can achieve overtaking their male counterparts on various occasions, every second women were subjected to discrimination at workplace, domestic front or physical assaults from men who couldn’t come to the terms of their intelligence. Unless until there is a sea change in the thinking of society and psyche of men mere celebrations will not improve the stature of many women who were suffering dialy hardships.

Myfirstshow.com hopes world changes for good healing itself from all its remedies and honor the pride and dignity of women. We take the occasion to wish all women Happy Women’s Day.
