Yesterday, Tamil Nadu Government has imposed the ban on Universal Hero Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vishwaroopam’. Not only Kamal, his friends, fans, co-stars and other well-wishers were shocked with this development. Through social networking many have raised their voice for Kamal. The Universal Hero released a letter for their support and according to him his film is not against Muslim community. Director and hero of Vishwaroopam, Kamal Haasan has issued a press statement following the 2 week ban of his latest film’s release after allegations made by Islamic groups. In his statement Kamal Haasan exclaimed, “this kind of cultural terrorism will have to stop”. He also proudly spoke of his association with Harmony India that had strived towards the betterment of the Muslim communities. He said that he has always spoken only on the favour of what is ‘humane and civil’ and has always been seen as a sympathizer of the community. Kamal felt deeply insulted by the allegations made by the Muslim groups that his film depicts their religion and culture in poor light. While he said that this issue will reach its logical conclusion sooner or later, he thanked the public for their support on the online space.
