Fiery star, Queen Kangana Ranaut is one of the few who made it big in the bad world of Bollywood without any godfather. She no godfather in Bollywood, made her debut in 2006 romantic drama film Gangster. Though Kangana is now among the top actresses in Bollywood, her journey in the industry hasn’t been an easy one
In an interview with a daily, the actress talked about her earlier years in her film career. She spoke about the time when she was asked to do a photoshoot for a Pahlaj Nihalani film, wearing nothing but a satin robe.
Kangana eventually did go through with the photo shoot but stepped out of the film. She said, “I actually went through the photoshoot, but then I disappeared. I changed my number. And around that time, I was giving auditions and had tested for Anurag Basu’s Gangster (2006), and Puri Jagannadh’s Pokiri (2006). Luckily, I got both films and had to take the call… you know, how something doesn’t happen for the longest [time], and you get two-three things together, I was in that phase! I chose Gangster, but Pokiri went on to become a big hit as well, and then I worked with Puri sir later in Ek Niranjan.”
The role in Pokiri was then offered to Goan hip beauty Ileana and it worked wonders for her career.
On the work front, Kangana is all set to star with Rajkummar Rao in Ekta Kapoor’s Mental Hai Kya. The film, which was initially slated for a March 29 release, will now release in May.
