Director: Hanu Raghavapudi
Behind the Screens
Nithin who is in a rage in his second innings has teamed up with Hanu Raghavapudi for a new film titled, Lie. The director who is known for his innovative subjects impressed the audience with the trailers. Their film, Lie has released today across the globe. Let us see how it fares with the audience.
Padmanabham (Arjun Sarja) is a Most Wanted Criminal who resides in the United States and Indian Police is on a mission to nab him. A Satyam (Nithin) desperately wants to go to the US and settle there marrying a girl. He is after Chaitra (Megha Akash) who is a miser. How do they fall in love? How are Satyam and Padmanabham are related? How Padmanabham gets nabbed? forms the rest.
Nithin is always at his energetic self and in this film, he also looked stylish. The twist in his character is crucial to the film and he performed well. Megha Akash is beautiful and the chemistry between them worked out well. Arjun is impressive in his comeback. His character is the major highlight of the film. Rest of the characters are not so important as the film totally travels between Nithin and Arjun.
Lie is a Stylish Action Thriller with a lot of mind games between Satyam and Padmanabham. The second half of the film is not up to mark. There is no proper justification about how Padmanabham becomes a Most Wanted Criminal. The entire story revolves around a Blazer and logic goes for a toss at many places. Some of the dialogues and equations are not understandable for the common audience. Entertainment quotient is also less as the proceedings happen in serious mode. All the songs are speed-breakers. The movie may appeal to a limited audience who like films with mind games. A little more effort by the audience to make the film understandable to the common audience would have helped big time.
Hanu Raghavapudi has come up with an innovative treatment to the film but should have narrated it simple. The locations in the United States are selected differently and they give a unique feel to the thriller. Cinematography by Yuvaraj is Superb. Mani Sharma’s background score is superb. Editing is okay. Production Values by 14 Reels Entertainments are Superb.
Intelligent but Logic-less Thriller
