Lover Review – Routine But Passable

Movie: Lover

Rating: 2.5/5

Writing and Direction: Anish Krishna

Behind the Screens:
Young Hero Raj Tharun who was previously treated as a Minimum Guarantee Hero is churning back to back disasters in the recent times. He is doing ‘Lover’ from Dil Raju’s Camp which is known for its highest success rate. Let us see how the audience reacts to the film releasing today.
Storyline:
Raj (Raj Tharun) is an Orphan who works as a Bike Customizer. He treats Jaggu (Rajiv Kanakala) as his own brother and lives with his family. He falls in love with Charitha, a Kerala native nurse. While they go to Kerala to get married, Charitha is kidnapped by the local mafia and later Jaggu also goes missing. What happens next in Kidnaps Saga and how Raj clears the mess forms the rest of the story.
Star Shine:
Raj Tharun and Riddhi Kumar are apt in the roles. The chemistry between them worked big time. Raj Tharun walks through his role with tremendous ease. He looked different than his previous films. Riddhi Kumar is beauty and performed very well. Rajiv Kanakala has got a role with substance. Ajay, Subba Raju, and Sachin Kedkar are okay as Villains. Praveen, Satyam Rajesh and Satya managed some laughs here and there as hero’s friends.
Technical:
Director Anish Krishna picked up a routine story for this film and tried to make it appealing to the family audience as in the case of all Dil Raju films. He should have handled the first half better and also pick up a better story for the film. Sameera Reddy’s visuals are excellent. Naalo Edho Chilipi Kala and Anthe Kadha Mari songs are good on screen with excellent visuals of Kerala. Music composed by Six Music Directors is very good. Editing could have been better in the first half.
Analysis:
The first half is flat with the routine hero and other characters introduction. Our Hero falls in love and tries to woo Charitha. These sequences bore big time. Comedy is also disappointing in the first half. The movie picks up well post-Interval in Kerala. The story turns a bit different after villains enter the scene. The second half is better than the first one with a good climax. Finally, Lover is a passable love story. Being a clean family entertainer, it has to be seen if the audience will lap it up like many Dil Raju films in the recent times.
