In a big relief for Universal Hero Kamal Hasan, Madras High Court today lifted ban on Viswaroopam. This Kamal Hasan starrer featuring Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jermiah was banned for 15 days by Tamil Nadu Govt led by AIADMK’s Jayalalitha. CM Jayalalitha was influenced by the protests of muslim groups who alleged that the film hurts their sentiments.
When Kamal approached HC, the court after watching the film on Jan 26th, deferred its judgement scheduled for on 28th, asking Kamal Hasan and Govt along with other concerned parties to sort out the matter out of court amicably. However when Kamal sought appointment of CM Jayalalitha, she refused appointment, asking Kamal to settle the issue in High Court itself.
High Court after considering all the developments lifted ban on the film and said film makers can release the film even tomorrow. This comes as a huge relief for the star hero as already his film plunged into losses of worth Rs 30 crores due to ban. Now Kamal along with the distributors will finalise the release of the film in Tamil Nadu.
It has to be seen whether TN Govt and CM Jayalalitha will go for counter in High Court against the order or approach Supreme Court against the order or leave the matter to let go. Lets hope controversy surrounding it will die silently.Sources says that Govt is planning to appeal against the order and theater owners are keeping their fingers crossed. Knowing CM Jayalalitha and her attitude to take personally and prestigiously any thing can happen.
Lets see what will be the next twist!!
