India’s topmost directors are dying to work with Superstar Mahesh Babu. But Mahesh Babu isn’t showing interest in established top-bracket directors. Instead, he is going for budget-friendly and audience-friendly directors.
If we go by his last few films then Mahesh has followed a strange pattern which no top actor will follow. After the disastrous SPYder and the above-average Bharat Ane Neu, Mahesh has opted for good stories over the reputation of the director. Maharshi, Sarileru Neekevvaru, and now Sarkaru Vaari Paata are the examples of this strategy. Vamsi Paidipally, Anil Ravipudi, and Parasuram are established directors, no doubt, but they still have a long way to go before they are considered in the top league like SS Rajamouli, Shankar or Koratala Siva. Maybe Mahesh thinks that even if the film turns out to be flop he might blame it on the inexperience of the directors instead of getting blamed for delivering a flop with a top director.
This pattern has been working well for Mahesh and let’s hope he continues to encourage tier-2 directors though his next film is with SS Rajamouli which will go on floors in 2022.
