Modi Effect on Mahesh Babu’s Spyder

Modi Effect Mahesh Babus Spyder

Tollywood Prince Mahesh Babu is juggling between shooting locations of his much-hyped films “Spyder” and “Bharath Ane Nenu”. His much-anticipated spy-thriller “Spyder” shooting is almost completed and left with only one song which is planned to shot in the coming week. Actually, the film is planned to release long ago but due to delay in shooting the film release was postponed. Now makers officially announced that the film is going to hit the big screens on September 27th without any further delay.

Hardly, with in two months, “Spyder” is going to enthrall the audience but now before release “Spyder” business is worrying the producers. It is known that this film is bilingual one which is made in Telugu and Tamil version and makers are also planned to release dubbed version of Hindi and Malayalam simultaneously. Buzz is that Makers who thought to release the film in multiple languages has planned to kick start the business after two teasers release because they thought that teaser impact will tend to get huge amounts for screening rights in all languages.

But, now Modi’s GST effect shocked the producers if the grapevine is to be believed no distributor is coming forward to purchase the film rights for huge amounts. The makers wanted to sell the movie rights at exorbitant prices and they did not sell the complete distribution rights yet. There is always a demand for Mahesh Babu’s film rights but with the introduction of GST, there is a heavy downfall in the competition to grab the film’s rights.

The implementation of GST is denting in the movie revenues to the tune of 10% due to the higher tax rate. The numbers will result largely in the case of huge budget films. The buyers will never show any interest in the same and they are not even ready to take the risk. The makers eyed a pre-release business of 85 to 100 crores in the past which will now end up at around 75 to 80 crores.

Buzz is that makers who aimed for large are trying hard to get a break even in pre-release business. The film is touted to be made with the whopping budget of 100 crores where sources share that makers are spending more than 20 crores on visual effects.  Makers are hoping that the business will increase after the second teaser of the film release, which is buzzed to be released on July 20th on occasion of Mahesh daughter Sitara birthday.
