Movie: Naa Peru Surya
Director: Vakkantham Vamsi
Behind the Screens:
Stylish Star Allu Arjun is slowly emerging as a Bankable Star Hero delivering minium guarantee films. The actor for the first time in the recent times is trying a serious subject with Naa Peru Surya – Naa Illu India. Let us see how the movie releasing today fares with the audience.
Surya (Allu Arjun) is a patriot and longs to serve the Indian Army at the Border. But his Joining was put on hold by the Army head (Boman Irani) in Dehradun due to his Anger Management issues. He was given a task to obtain a Certificate from a Psychologist (Arjun) who happens to be Surya’s abandoned father. The rest is all about how Surya manages to impress his father and if he will get to pursue his dream.
Allu Arjun is a terrific actor when it comes to comedy and romance we all know. It resembles more of his Sarainodu role. Even though it looked forced at times, it is largely good. Anu Emmanuel looks hot and gets a decent role. Arjun Sarja and Boman Irani (More of a cameo) are good in the roles they offered. Nadiya is disappointing in a poorly written blink and miss role. Sarath Kumar as a baddie and Sai Kumar are fine. Rest of the characters are okay.
Naa Peru Surya marks the directional debut of Writer Vakkantham Vamsi. He gives us a feeling that he has over-pushed himself as a writer and director in this film. We get to see the influence of some of his previous films on this movie. A bit of more tight screenplay and a better story should have helped. Vishal-Shekhar’s background score is great while the songs are okay. Some of the songs are made good onscreen with Allu Arjun’s Screen Presence. A better album would have elevated the film. Camera work by Rajeev Ravi and Sushil Choudhary is okay. Editing is patchy and good 15-20 minutes can be chopped easily. Art Work is inconsistent. Production Values are appropriate.
Naa Peru Surya has a decent first half. Except for a love track that has Arjun Reddy Shades, the first half is decent with a good start and interval bang. We assume that the second half will totally run on the 21 Days Challenge but the director ends it very soon and starts the ‘Anwar Track’ which is not convincingly dealt with. The climax is also not that great. Finally, Naa Peru Surya is an Okay film. It has to be seen how the masses like it.
