Before the controversy around the Nandi Awards announced by Andhra Pradesh government died down, Telangana government is planning to bring its own state awards to honour the talent and expertise in Telugu film industry. Telangana government had decided to constitute its own state award for this purpose.
Telangana Minister for Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav confirmed that to a media channel that the government will soon announce its Awards and a high profile committee has already been set up. He also added that everything is ready to be declared formally, but the announcement was delayed due to some internal reasons.
We are told that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao asked the committee to be extra cautious keeping in mind the controversy over Nandi Awards. Addressing all the criticism will help Telangana government score brownie points in Industry folks, the Chief Minister believes. In such case, Manam, Rudhramma Devi, and Race Gurram will get to have some awards. So both the Telugu States are going to reward the excellence in Telugu Cinema separately going further.
