Tollywood media was crazy in repoarting that Former Team India Captain Sourav Ganguly bought the rights of Sumanth starrer ‘Golkonda High School’, a cricket based film and would be making his filmy debut in a bengali remake of it. A close aide of Dada,as he is popularly known as says "Dada has no idea about the movie and has not bought the rights to "Golconda High School". In fact, he has not bought the rights to any film. Sourav has not heard about "GHS", leave alone knowing who bought the rights or who is producing it. Though he has done two television shows – "Dadagiri" and "Key Hobe Banglar Kotipoti" (the Bengali version of "Kaun Banega Crorepati"), Sourav has no intensions of acting in movies as of now,".
Even young tollywood Hero Sumanth, who starred in the original when contacted said "My producer informed me that Sourav was keen on doing the film. Personally, I have no clue if he is doing the movie or not. I’m a big fan of Sourav Ganguly and have great respect for him as a cricketer. I think people have just jumped the gun here." . Producer of the film Ram Mohan Paruvu says "A production house from Kolkata approached me to buy the remake rights of "Golconda High School". They told me they were keen on approaching Sourav Ganguly for the film as he fit the role of a cricket coach. Apart from what they told me, I don’t know if Sourav is doing the film or not. I just sold the Bengali rights of the movie. Meanwhile, the rights to the other languages are still with us and we are planning an English dubbed version soon"
