Censor Board of Film Certification has decided to do away with special treats like item songs for small screen viewers. According to new guidelines stipulated by the board, films comprising of item songs will get ‘A’ certificate without any further consideration. Sources say the radical decision of CBFC, Mumbai is after the Delhi gang rape incident, which led many point fingers at hot item numbers in films. Couple of days back during ‘Viswaroopam’ controversy, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tiwari said that cinematography act would be looked into. The act was promulgated way back in 1952 during which no item songs existed. People feel many more radical decisions can be expected from CBFC as people are accusing Censor Board of many scams during film certification.
