MovieOperation Gold Fish

Rating: 2/5

Director: Sai Kiran Adivi

Behind screens:

Aadi Saikumar’s career is bogged down by back to back flops except for an average result of Lovely which released way back in 2012. He had ten flops after Lovely and has pinned all hopes on Operation Gold Fish releasing today. Let us see how the audience receives it in the theaters.

Story:

Arjun (Aadi Saikumar) is an NSG Commando who survives the aftermath of the Kashmiri Pandits Massacre. His dream as he grows up is to nab Ghazi Baba (Abburi Ravi) who is the main accused of that. The rest of the story is all about how he manages to fulfill his dream.

Performances:

Aadi Saikumar is okay as an NSG Commando. He should have done more other than giving serious looks in the character. Moreover, his voice is too meek to deliver the powerful dialogues needed for the role. It is the first time Aadi is coming out of his comfort zone of lover boy roles. Sasha Chettri is just for the namesake in her debut Telugu movie. Karthik Raju and Nitya Naresh also got trivial roles. Abburi Ravi tried too hard in the villain role and fell apart. Nookaraju shines even though his character is poorly written. Krishnudu is completely wasted. Rao Ramesh and Anish Kuruvilla are okay.

Technical:

Sai Kiran Adavi chose to give a routine Terrorist and anti-terror mission film a twist by adding the Kashmiri Pandits’ angle. But then, the narration fails to keep the audience engrossed and furthermore, there are routine and predictable scenes. Sricharan Pakala’s music has been disappointing. Even the background score is not effective. The camerawork is fine and some dialogues are impressive. Editing is abrupt here and there. Production Values are appropriate.

Analysis:

Operation Gold Fish is a revenge plot in the backdrop of terrorism blended with the notion of everything for the good of the country. It is a routine subject dealt very well in the past. It was rehashed once again with the Kashmiri Pandits angle which is not touched in Telugu previously. But except that there is no novel factor in the film. The scenes are routine and predictable with a melodramatic flashback. The movie is just a little over 2 hours but you feel like it will never end. Aadi may have just added one more flop to his kitty.
