Pak wins its first Oscar today

India’s neighbour Pakistan did Asia proud by winning its first Oscar today at 84th Oscar’s celebrations. "Saving Face", a Pakistani documentary film revolving around acid attack women victims was chosen by Jury for the best documentary (short) at the academy awards ceremony. Directed by Daniel Junge and Pakistani filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, "Saving Face" follows several survivors, and narrates the tale of their fight for justice, and a Pakistani plastic surgeon who has returned to his homeland to help them restore their faces and their lives. The film pipped "The Barber of Birmingham: Foot Soldier of the Civil Rights Movement", "God is the bigger Elvis", "Incident in New Baghdad" and "The Tsunami and The Cherry Blossom" to win the top honours and bag the prestigious award.
