Tollywood’s renowned producer and actor Atluri Pundarikakshaiah passed away on Thursday morning at 6 am. He was survived by two sons. He was admitted in a private hospital for treatment for his chronic illness. Born in Chautipalli in Krishna District. 87 yr old Pundarikakshaiah made his tollywood debut with ‘Bhakta Prahlada’ after earning fame for himself in theatre performances. He along with NT.Ramarao, who was his relative established National Art Theatre and produced many golden hits with NTR, Trivikrama Rao. Some of the evergreen hits include ‘Jayasimha’,’Sri Krishnavataram’,’Mahamantri Timmarasu’, ‘Aradhana’, ‘Manushullo Devudu’ and ‘Melukolupu’. He won national award for ‘Mahamantri Timmarasu’. Pundari Kakshiah was credited for introducing many legends and Dasari Narayana Rao as dialogue writer. He made tollywood movie lovers listen to Rafi singing in Telugu with ‘Aradhana’. He even starred as villian in ‘Muddu Krishna’ and his role in ‘Kartavyam’ won many accolades. Entire tollywood and kollywood condoled his death.
