Rana recently was quick to come to the defense of his buddy Ram Charan Tej when it was being rumored that the latter did not know what a “3 am friend” is “Charan is not so naïve and he posted it (on Twitter) to evoke some fun. Actually, we were shooting at Ramoji Film City in neighboring sets and had met up for a chat. In the course of the conversation, he jokingly asked me about it and then uploaded the same on Twitter, “It was meant to evoke fun but it turned ballistic.”Rana might be sleeping early but that doesn’t stop Trisha and Shriya branding him as their “3 am buddy”. “I have known Trisha and Shriya for almost 10 years and we have partied once in a while along with other friends. For the last eight months, I have been living out of my suitcases, shooting for Department and Naa Ishtam, so I couldn’t even go home, leave alone partying and holidaying,” he says. About the rumours of his affair and subsequent break up with Bipasha Basu, the actor says, “I’d like to come clean about this rumour since there is no truth in it. Neither were we having an affair nor have we broken up; it was a creation of the Mumbai media. Having said that, we are still good friends and do keep in touch. I have also developed bonds with B-town legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt while working in Department, so friendships are film-based and not out of it” he points out. Rana doesn’t have a problem sailing in two boats (Bollywood and South). “I am not here to attain stardom but to enjoy my work every moment. I have only gone with the good scripts without language bias as I am proficient in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. I couldn’t do the Tamil film with director Vetrimaran because he wanted a ‘specific look’ for three months, contrary to the look I am doing in Krish’s film, so we parted ways,” he informs. On not working with mainstream film-makers like Karan Johar and Yash Raj in B-town he says, “Isn’t RGV a mainstream filmmaker?” Rana, however, adds that he will soon work with other film-makers as well. With his childhood buddies Allu Arjun and Ram Charan Tej settling down is marriage on the cards for Rana? “I like feel younger than these two buddies though I am of the same age as Charan. They have made their careers, but I need some more time to become a bankable star, so marriage can wait,” he concludes.
