Reasons behind Manikarnika Release Postponement

Last Updated on by

After bagging a blockbuster with his first historical film – Gautamiputra Satakarni, director Krish is handling yet another historical film, Manikarnika which will be an epic biographical drama about Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. Bollywood beauty Kangana Ranaut is playing the title role, The Queen of Jhansi character in this film. The film grabbed much attention since the time of its announcement.

Recently makers wrapped the entire shooting and busy with post-production works. It is known that makers planned to release the film in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages on 15th August on the eve of Independence Day.  But now the news is coming out that ‘Manikarnika’ may not hit the big screens on August 15th which is much disappointing news to movie lovers who are waiting eagerly for the film release. The new release date is yet to finalize but its confirm that the film will not have a release in August 2018.

Close sources of production revealed the actual reasons behind the postponement in release date. According to sources, ‘ A lot of films are now shown on Chroma backdrops and need computer graphics and visual effects to be merged into the scenes. VFX companies take a long time to deliver the goods these days because the makers want state of the art results. The same problem has happened with other films like Rajinikanth’s 2.0.’

Source added, ‘Many filmmakers are opting to go for multiple VFX studios to do different parts of their films, but the VFX for Manikarnika has gone to a single studio and hence this much-awaited film is getting delayed. Secondly, the director also needs to be happy with the output because it is his second film in Bollywood and he does not want to go wrong anywhere.’

Baahubali fame Vijayendra Prasad has penned the script for the film and he insisted on having Krish in the project. Jisshu Sengupta, Ankita Lokhande, Atul Kulkarni, Sonu Sood and Vaibhav Tatwawaadi are playing the lead roles. Music will compose by Music Composer Shankar Mahadevan. Kamal Jain and Nishant Pitti are producing the film on Kairos Kontent Studios banner along with Zee Studios. Stay tuned for this space for more interesting updates.
