Sarileru Neekevvaru Movie Review and Rating

Movie: Sarileru Neekevvaru

Rating: 3/5

Director: Anil Ravipudi

Behind the Scenes:

Superstar Mahesh Babu who is into soft films for quite some time now has joined hands with Anil Ravipudi who is known for his hilarious mass entertainers. The director who delivered a blockbuster for last Sankranthi is looking to replicate the same feat this Sankranthi as well. Let us see how the movie is received by the audience.

Major Ajay Krishna and his team are involved in a Kids Rescue Operation in Kashmir. Ajay Krishna heads to Kurnool to deliver some bad news and situations force him to stand by his comrade’s family. Why is Ajay in Kurnool? What are the adverse situations he faces there? How Samskruthi (Rashmika Mandanna) and Professor Bharathi (Vijaya Shanthi) fit in the story? What happens at the end? forms the rest of the story.
Mahesh Babu is seen at ease after a long time. It is refreshing to see him in an energetic role after some serious characters in recent times. Along with comedy timing, Anil Ravipudi also ensured that Mahesh dances a bit in the film much to the delight of fans. His performance in the Army Episodes and the Emotional blocks was also good. All in all, it is an outing that will be cherished by fans for a long time. Rashmika Mandanna is cute but is loud in many sequences and over-acted as well. Probably, that is the case with most Ravipudi heroines. She excelled in dances. Vijaya Shanthi made a comeback in a character with substance. She is graceful and lived up to the expectations. Bandla Ganesh is not up to the mark. There are several other characters like Rao Ramesh, Sangeetha, Prakash Raj, Subba Raju, Ajay, Vennela Kishore and others who are fine in whatever they are given.
Technical Performances:
Director Anil Ravipudi has got a mixed result with the film. He chose a story with not much depth but masked it with some good writing. But then, comedy is the forte of Anil but it has been a disappointment in this film. He focused more on emotions in the second half. Having said that he did not let down the film. He delivered what fans are expecting from Mahesh over the years and kept them interested till the end with occasional highs. But that is not all that normal audience expects. Devi Sri Prasad came up with a couple of chartbuster songs and the background score is excellent at a few places. Rathnavelu’s cinematography is excellent and so is the production design. The Production values are top-notch. Editing has been decent.
The First Half of the film is decent. It started well with good Army Sequences and ends well with an excellent Interval Action Block. However, the much-talked-about Train Sequence could have been better. Even though Anil mark comedy is not totally present, he pulls it off with excellent heroism. The Second half begins on a strong note with another highlight scene (Warning to Prakash Raj). But as the story unfolds, the hollowness in it is exposed but the good part is that Ravipudi ensured that some blocks are present to keep the fans interested. The Mind Block song is one of the best dance numbers in Mahesh Babu’s career. But again, the climax is a letdown. It is a stunning comeback for Vijaya Shanthi who carried herself gracefully. Sarileru Neekevvaru is a commercial potboiler that is stuffed with regular high moments for fans. It is a perfect feast for fans and will be liked by the normal audience who opt for commercial films. Dialogues and Action Sequences are two strong pillars of the film. The commercial outcome will now depend on how other Sankranthi films perform
