Behind the Screens:
After the sensational success of Aparachithudu in 2004, Vikram failed to keep it up with his later films. Almost all of his recent films, with the exception of Inkokadu to some extent, have failed to make money in this decade. Let us see how the audience receives the movie releasing Today.
Rama Saamy (Vikram) has a life ambition of joining Civil Services but works for a Central Minister (Prabhu). After clearing all the entrance tests, Saamy chooses to be a Police Officer (IPS) and is posted in Vijayawada. The rest is how Saamy avenges his Father’s Killing.
Hari’s films usually run on their heroes. Vikram is ferocious and tried his level best to shoulder the film with his performance. Bobby Simha plays the main villain in the film and is good. Keerthy Suresh did not have a role with substance so is another heroine, Aishwarya Rajesh. Soori is ordinary.
Hari is known for his fast narration despite routine storyline. But then, Saamy screenplay is too straightforward and is predictable. The comedy and drama also are not impressive. There are no enough intense moments throughout. The Music composed by Devi Sri Prasad is poor. Saamy Theme which was retained from the prequel is good but the background score is disappointing. The camera work by Venkatesh Anguraj is average and VT Vijayan’s editing has been ordinary. Production Values are okay.
Saamy is a shame to a very good first part. It is a poorly made Cop Drama which bores you from the start to the end. The nostalgia about the Original is the only good thing about the second part. The outdated story combined with a predictable and routine screenplay, Poor Music and B-Grade Comedy will definitely not worth your time to rush to the theaters.
