It is well known that very few actors in industry dare to experiment with their roles and go to any extent to suit the characters they play. Sarath Kumar is one such star, who is on an exploring mode these days. If it was a historical character in a Malayalam period film “Pazhassi Raja”, here is the latest news, he will be seen as a transgender in the title role of a film titled “Kanchana” which is directed by choreographer-turned-director Raghavendra Lawrence.
This film is a sequel to “Muni” that was also directed by Lawrence. Lakshmi Rai is paired opposite Lawrence, who plays the protagonist. Sarath Kumar has gone for an image makeover to suit the role of a third gender. He has removed his characteristic moustache and will soon curl his tresses too. Confirming the news he said that, “When Lawrence narrated the script, it was very challenging. I had no hesitation in signing on the dotted line.”
The actor also said that he takes cue from Amitabh Bachchan, who plays around with various characters. “My focus is more on meaningful roles rather than clichéd heroes, who bashes up a ‘Hazar’ goons and runs around trees singing romantic duets. Apart from changes in looks and body language, I am attempting voice modulation as well,” reveals the actor. Sarath has also signed his first Kannada film with Dharshan besides few interesting movies in Malayalam and Tamil.
