Shailaja Reddy Alludu Review

Movie: Sailaja Reddy Alludu

Rating: 2.5/5

Writing and Direction: Maruthi

Behind the Screens:
Yuva Samrat Naga Chaitanya’s Last film, Yuddham Sharanam is a big disaster. The actor who got married recently wants to start the new innings with a blockbuster and has pinned all hopes on his new film, Sailaja Reddy Alludu. Let us see how the audience receives the movie releasing Today.
Storyline:
Chaithu (Naga Chaitanya) is a simple fun-loving guy who falls in love with Egoist girl, Anu (Anu Emmanuel). After initial resistance, Anu responds to him and they get engaged as well unexpectedly. But then, the story takes a twist after Anu’s Mother, the Powerful Shailaja Reddy (Ramya Krishnan) fixes her marriage with another guy. What happens later in their love story forms the rest.
Star Shine:
Naga Chaitanya is seen in an energetic role for the first time and he came up with a good performance. He walked through the role of a loverboy effortlessly and also came up with a decent performance in fights and emotional sequences. Anu Emmanuel got a role with substance and she is apt as an egoistic daughter. Ramya Krishna’s role is not etched on expected lines but still, she amazes us with her excellent screen presence. Naresh and Murali Sharma are good. Prudhvi and Vennela Kishore managed some laughs here and there.
Technical:
Director Maruthi came up with a routine story which needed to be stuffed with lots of comedy to make it viable. But then, Maruthi missed the comedy which is the main contribution of his success so far. Except for Vennela Kishore and Prudhvi’s track, there is no much comedy. Camera work is okay. The songs have been well shot and a few are quite good. Editing could have been a lot better. Some scenes in both the halves have to be trimmed. Production Values are excellent.
Analysis:
The first half of the film is pretty average and the last fifteen minutes are quite interesting. But the biggest drawback is the lack of entertainment which is expected from a Maruthi’s film. The story is quite routine and predictable. The second half, as a result, falls flat immensely. The scenes between egoist mother and daughter are supposed to be the highlight of the film but they are dragged beyond the patience of the audience. As a whole, Shailaja Reddy Alludu is a disappointment except for the fact the director showcased Naga Chaitanya at his energetic best.
