Online frauds have become quite common in recent times, not only normal people our celebrities too turning as victims for these online frauds. Our creative director Shekar Kammula has received big shock with it because this time the online fraud is related to his upcoming film. It is known that Sekhar Kammula always searches for new faces for his films and he always encourages new talents.
To encash this sensible filmmaker thought of scouting for fresh faces for his upcoming movie, some of the fraudsters had put a fake casting call in the name of the director.
According to reports, a fraudster post a job offer in online job portal stating that Sekhar Kammula is scouting for fresh faces for his upcoming movie with hero Vijay Deverakonda demanded a fee between Rs 1,500 to Rs 1,800 and deposit in the given bank details. As the amount is very nominal, many hopefuls have enrolled and deposited money in the details given by the accused.
However there is no calling from Shekar, some of the victims directly approached the director at his office, to his surprise. They came to know that neither Kammula was directing a new film nor has he offered the job advertisement.
Shekar Kammula has registered a complaint at the city Cyber Crime Department, Hyderabad. The job offer on the website ran for 25 days. Assistant Commissioner of Police with Cyber Crime, said, “The plot came to light when the victim approached the director seeking the opportunity. Sekhar Kammula was shocked to see how his name was being used to collect money online. The website ran for around 25 days, and this is the first such case being reported.”
He added, “The Cybercrime wing has booked a case under 165 (C), 165(D) of IT act along with Section 420 of the IPC (cheating) against the accused. Once traced, the accused will also be booked under the charge of impersonation”.
Upon an initial probe, the police confirmed that it is a fake casting call and police officials promised that they will trace out the accused soon.
