Shriya Saran is in the spotlight once again and this time it is for her philanthropic activities. The actress has opened a spa in Mumbai to help the visually challenged and make them self-sufficient. According to close sources, the Spa is an initiative by an NGO that’s set up by the actress’ family. It is reported that the actress was always concerned about the disabled.
The actress has been quoted saying, “When I studied in Delhi, we used to visit a blind school quite often. My experiences there left a deep impact on me, so much so that I chose to open a spa to lend a hand to visually challenged people in Mumbai”.
The state of the art spa which is also meant for the public which offers specialized health treatments like reflexology and massages will be run by a set of visually challenged people who have been trained in these techniques. The equipments used are also custom made and programmed in such a way that the blind service personnel can handle them with ease.
On the work front, Shriya is thrilled about her next Tamil film “Chikku Bukku” where she teams up with Arya. Talking about the film she says, “Though it’s a simple love story, the beauty lies in the way director Manikandan has narrated it. I am confident it will be liked by all”.
She is currently busy with her second Malayalam film “Casanova” with Mohanlal and the glamorous actress is making efforts to learn the language. She is soon expected to leave for Dubai for the filming of “Casanova”.
Shriya is also quite upbeat about her upcoming film with ace director Deepa Mehta, this movie is a screen adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s novel, ‘Midnight’s Children’.
