Our readers are aware that Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has decided not to release any new movie starting from March 1, 2018, to counter the monopoly of the existing Digital Service Providers (DSPs) like Qube, UFO, PDX, Scrabble etc that is causing severe issues to the producers during their film releases. The DSPs have not even come forward to the meeting called by TFCC. The production houses were also instructed not to plan their film shootings from March, 1st, 2018 as a part of this shutdown. A joint meeting of Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada film industry chambers will happen tomorrow to decide about a joint protest and shutdown.
If this shutdown really happens, it will impact the plans of stars who have pinned high hopes on summer holidays to make it big at the box-office. The Summer Race will begin with Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s ‘Rangasthalam’ releasing on March, 30th. Stylish Star Allu Arjun’s ‘Naa Peru Surya’ – Naa Illu India and Superstar Mahesh Babu’s ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ are also being planned for April Release as Summer Special. These releases will be affected if Tollywood goes on with this strike. Summer is a big season for all the industries given holidays for schools and colleges. So the impact will be huge.
