Movie: Taxiwala

Rating: 2.75/5.0

Writing and Direction: Rahul Sankrityan

Behind the Scenes:

Vijay Deverakonda who got a 70 Crore Share film with Geetha Govindham immediately bagged a big flop with NOTA. He has pinned all hopes on his Super Natural Thriller, Taxiwala but then the movie has stunned everyone by getting leaked before the release. Let us see how Taxiwala is received by the audience:

Unemployed Siva (Taxiwala) comes to his Uncle (Madhunandan) in the city to find some job. As he does not like any job, he purchases a Second-Hand Car and becomes a Cab Driver. When things go well, it is revealed that there is a Ghost in the car and it kills a Doctor (Uttej). When Siva goes to the Car Owner to find out the truth, he finds a Professor in his last breath who reveals the truth about the car and the ghost. What is that? Why the car killed the Doctor? What happens next in the story forms the rest.
Star Shine:

Vijay Deverakonda once again sleepwalked into the character effortlessly. It is astonishing to see him fit in whatever role he is offered. He is an asset to this film. Priyanka Jalwar who made her film debut with this film is just a namesake heroine but she is good. Malavika Nair appeared in a crucial role. Sijju and Uttej are seen as baddies. Ravi Varma, Ravi Prakash, Kalyani are seen in important roles. Yamuna is good even though it is a little role. Madhunandan and the guy who played Hollywood are good in evoking some comedy.

Rahul Sankrityan chose a story which is familiar to the Telugu audience but executed it decently. He should have handled the second half particularly the climax well. Jakes Bejoy’s Music is very good and so is the cinematography of Sujeeth Sarang. Maate Vinadhuga Song is very pleasing to ears and eyes as well. Editing has been decent. The Production Values of UV Creations and GA2 are Grand.

Taxiwala has resemblances to films like Dora and Tarzan the Wonder car. The director gave sci-fi touch by bringing in the concept of Astral Projection which means separating the soul from the body. The director has executed the concept well and it is good how he embedded commercial elements in it. The first half is okay and is more about the comedy. The second half is good as well with some comedy sequences but the film loses steam towards the end. Malavika Track in the second half is interesting.  The climax sequences which comes in the family backdrop are a disappointment. There is some lag as well in the second half. Finally, Taxiwala is an okay film and a one-time watch easily.
