Last Updated on by

Actress Sri Reddy’s allegations on Casting Couch in the Telugu Film Industry has ensured that National Human Rights issue notices to Telangana Government and Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry. That also forced the industry to announce CASH – Committee Against Sexual Harassment to deal with such complaints in future. The industry has confirmed CASH Committee with 50% representation from the industry and the rest from the outsiders. Efforts are on to get the legal sanctity of the committee.

The Film Chamber is also planning a hotline to air such complaints via email and as well as Phone and She Teams will be indulged to take care of them. Going forward, all the auditions will have to be video recorded and should have the presence of a female employee to prevent exploitation. The industry is also moving towards issuing licenses and registrations to Model Co-ordinators who are accused of indulging in Casting Couches. The film chamber has also instructed all the production houses to have facilities like toilets and changing rooms for the junior artistes and as well as dancers wherever they shoot. These steps are aimed at upholding the honour of women working in the industry. It is great if all these recommendations are implemented in letter and spirit.
