After one week shutdown against irrational pricing of Digital Service Providers, Tollywood resumed screenings last week while Tamil and Kannada industries remained shutdown. There is a criticism that Tollywood Producers settled down for meager discounts from the Digital Service Providers. The Summer Race will begin with Mega Power Star Ram Charan’s ‘Rangasthalam’ releasing on March, 30th. Stylish Star Allu Arjun’s ‘Naa Peru Surya’ – Naa Illu India on May, 4th, Superstar Mahesh Babu’s ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ on April, 20th, and South Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kaala’ on April, 27th will also be impacted.
And now, the Joint Action Committee of South Indian Film Industry has exerted Pressure on Telugu Film Industry to co-operate with the entire shutdown including shootings and post-productions by Tamil Film Producers Council and Karnataka Film Chamber. Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce informed all its members that there will be no new releases from 16th of this month. As a result, the Telugu movies releasing from this Friday will not be screened in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. If this shutdown goes on for a long time, it will impact the plans of stars who have pinned high hopes on Summer holidays to make it big at the box-office given that Karnataka market for Telugu films is huge while Tamil Nadu market is sizeable..
