Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s upcoming film, Bigil, is titled Whistle in Telugu. The movie will release on the 25th of this month as Diwali Special. They are releasing the film in Telugu and Tamil on the same day. Mahesh S Koneru, an upcoming producer, bagged the Telugu rights of the movie, and the business has been a rage. The film has competition only from Karthi’s Khaidi in Telugu and Tamil. But then, Khaidi has no hype in Telugu. The movie is releasing in a whopping 700 screens across both the Telugu States, and with no considerable competition, the film is expected to take a good opening in the domestic markets.
Adirindi, the Telugu version of Mersal, has collected 1.64 Crore Share from both the Telugu States on its release day. It is the highest-ever opening for Vijay. The makers of Whistle are expecting a minimum of 3 Crore opening for their film. The movie has a simultaneous release, and the buzz is much better than that of Adirindi. Moreover, the movie is releasing in the festival season and has no competition from our native films.
Being directed by Atlee, the sports drama has Vijay playing a dual role. Nayantara is romancing Vijay in the movie. Nayanthara reunited with Vijay 10 years after Villu. AR Rahman has scored music for the film, which is being bankrolled by AGS Entertainments. Atlee and Vijay previously worked together twice for Theri and Mersal. So this is the hattrick film in their combination. It has to be seen if Vijay will be able to create a solid market for himself in Telugu with this film.
