Last week three films starring notable stars like Vishal’s Action, Vijay Sethupathi’s Vijay Sethupathi and Sundeep Kishan’s Tenali Ramakrishna BA BL in Telugu and Tamil. While Vijay Sethupathi was declared as a flop from the first show itself, the other two films Action and Tenali Ramakrishna got decent word of mouth and raked in some collections in AP/TG over the weekend.

But the scenario is quite the opposite in the US market as none of the three releases even managed to recover the print costs. According to the Rentrak figures, more than a dozen Telugu movies collected a gross of less than $10K which shows the disastrous fate of South Indian films in the US market. Even Biggies like Sye Raa, Bigil and Maharshi have underperformed in the overseas market.

The box-office analysts are of the opinion that most of these medium and small budget movies are released on Netflix and Amazon prime within 2-3 weeks of their theatrical release. Hence the audience isn’t showing interest to spend money and watch these movies in theaters. This is cited as the main reason for the downfall of the movie business in the US market.

The buyers and exhibitors are suffering huge losses and are selling off their properties to clear off losses and debts cause by these flop films. Let’s see which star or actor will rejuvenate the US market with a resounding hit.
