Tholi Prema Review

Movie: Tholi Prema

Rating: 3.0/5.0

Direction: Venky Atluri

Behind the Screens:

Mega Prince Varun Tej is on a high with the super success of his Fidaa which breached the 48 Crore Share Club. He is looking to continue the success streak with his new film, Tholiprema directed by a newcomer Venky Atluri. Let us see how the movie has fared with the audience.

Storyline:

Aditya (Varun Tej) meets Varsha (Raashi Khanna) on a train journey from Vishakapatnam to Hyderabad and fall in love with her instantly. But then, they get separated only to meet again in the college. But then as in the case of every love story, their relationship gets foiled by arguments and rest is all about how they resolve the issues and unite.

Star Shine:

Varun Tej is terrific in three different phases of life. Despite his heavy frame, he looks very well as a college student. He seems to have worked on his physique. There are no much emotions to portray himself as a performer. He also tried a bit to dance in this film. Raashi Khanna has got a meaty role after a long time and she performed really well. Suhasini, Naresh, and other friends are decent. Priyadarshi and Hyper Adhi have got significant roles and manage some good laughs in the second half. The other characters do not have much to perform or get noticed.

Technical:

The newcomer Venky Atluri had chosen a simple story but made a hell lot of difference by stuffing it with ample dose of romance and comedy. He came up with neat writing and the way he blended the story with a right mix of emotions say that he is a director to watch out for. Tholi Prema is the best work for Thaman in the recent times. The songs and the background score is good and enhances the mood of the film. The camera work is just fantabulous and production values are lavish. Editing is fine and the dialogues are good as well.

Analysis:

Rom-Com films are often needed to be handled delicately. Most of the times, they will have a simple story but needed to be handled well by stuffing the right dose of emotions and romance. It worked exactly the same in Tholiprema. The chemistry between the lead pair worked out really well. The first half of the film is pretty good with some amazing romantic scenes. On the flipside, the second half starts well but goes predictable and slow at times. On a whole, the movie is a likable film in the Valentine’s Day week.
