Movie: Tik Tik Tik
Behind the Screens:
Tamil Hero Jayam Ravi’s Tik Tik Tik which is touted to be the First Space Thriller from South India has released today simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil languages. Let us see if this path-breaking attempt will strike a chord with the audience or not.
Vishakapatnam is on a boil after an unidentified asteroid hits the Earth causing huge panic everywhere. Indian Air Force has confidential information about an even bigger asteroid coming to wipe out a few states in South India. Vasu (Jayam Ravi) and his team are deployed to save the Planet from the Asteroid.
Jayam Ravi has carried his role in the film with grace. He looked calm and composed to get into the skin of the character. Nivetha Pethuraj is good as well as a lady officer in the forces and performed well as well. Jayam Ravi’s son, Aarav is good as well. The other cast also did a decent job.
Shakti Soundar Rajan should be appreciated for attempting an out-of-the-box genre in the film and there is clearly an influence of Hollywood films on the movie. The director has taken so much of time in the first half to get into the story and there is unnecessary drama stuffed in the second half. Forced comedy in the first half also distracts the audience from the core idea. Music by D.Imman is fine and the title song is good. The background score should have been a lot better. The cinematography is neat in parts. The Artwork and CG work are excellent. Editing could have been better in the first half. Production Values are good.
A Space Thriller needs to have a gripping narration without any unnecessary deviation. But a few sub-plots and comedy sequences in the first half distract the audience and the story begins only during the Pre-interval. Things turn interesting in the second half but too much of drama and poor emotions do not allow the audience to indulge in the story. An action sequence in the second half is a major drawback. Finally, Tik Tik Tik is a first of its kind space thriller in the South but too many flaws in the narration make it an average fare at best.
