It has been a norm in Tollywood to import heroines from North. Even in the past Manisha Koirala, Urmila, Kajol, Preity Zinta, and Namrata Shirodkar were chosen for some high profile movies in Tollywood. Even though many of them lacked Telugu nativity, our heroes were adamant about casting them in their films. But now the craze has gone to peaks.
Tollywood heroes are going pan-Indian and that is the reason why Bollywood bhamalu are getting mandatory in Tollywood films. Prabhas wanted to cater to Bollywood audience after Baahubali, so he made the makers sign Shraddha Kapoor in Saaho. Out of all the negative points, she was the biggest con for the movie. Her performance failed to impress the audience. Now Rajamouli has also cast happening Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt as Sita in RRR opposite Ram Charan. Balakrishna also wants Sonakshi Sinha for his film with Boyapati Srinu. Janhvi Kapoor has been paid in crores to be cast opposite Vijay Deverakonda in Puri Jagannadh’s Fighter. And there are many more such instances.
The heroes and makers don’t realize that may be Bollywood heroines bring in glamor but they lack the nativity and connect that south Indian beauties have. There’s no point is paying these north indian bombshells exorbitant remunerations for their sloppy acting skills when they could have gone for a talented Telugu beauty.
