Phew! No Hit November

Tollywood's disastrous run continues in November

The month of November came up with a lot of promise but turned out to be a damp squib as far as Tollywood movie releases are concerned.

The month started with the much-hyped Vijay Deverakonda’s debut production, Meeku Maathrame Cheptha. But the film bombed badly due to its weak story, amateur performances, and poor production values. Ravi Babu’s Aaviri scared the distributors more than the audience. Yedu Chepala Katha got great openings, thanks to titillating promos but was rejected as all the hot scenes were censored from the movie. Sree Vishnu faced a resounding flop with Thippara Meesam which made the makers and buyers shave not just their mustache but also their heads.

Sundeep Kishan’s comedy entertainer Tenali Ramakrishna BA BL received poor reviews & openings and gave the struggling actor another setback. Both the dubbing movies Vishal’s Action and Vijay Sethupathi flopped badly though Action was a decent movie content-wise. Political biopic George Reddy made more Hungama on social media than in theaters. Eesha Rebba’s search for a proper break continues as her women-oriented suspense thriller Ragala 24 Gantallo didn’t run housefull for even 24 shows. No one cared for Rajendra Prasad’s Tholubommalata as it came and went without any noise. Arjun Suravaram that released this Friday has got some noticeable openings. The reports and word-of-mouth are also decent. But the fate of the movie will be known only after the first weekend.

As of now, it is safe to say that November month has been disastrous for Tollywood.
